On average, TAC reviews 1,500 applications annually with grant requests that range from $2,000 to $800,000. In 2010, TAC funded 703 individual artists and arts organizations for a total of $10.3 million.

75% of all support from TAC is for amounts less than $10,000. While TAC supports outstanding, established arts groups, fully two-thirds of all grants have the potential to go to new projects and individuals each year. Each dollar that the TAC invests in the arts results in $17 additional revenue from other sources.

About the Grants Program

TAC manages two main grants programs: Operating Grants and Project Grants. Some TAC discipline departments also offer a Grants to Individuals program. Operating Grants are designed to provide ongoing support to arts organizations for both their operations and programming. Project Grants are one-time grants available to organizations and collectives for specific projects and are not meant to cover operating or ongoing expenses. Grants to Individual Artists are intended to provide project-specific support for the creation of works of art. TAC supports the disciplines of Community Arts, Dance, Literary Arts, Music, Theatre and Visual/Media Arts.
